Once upon a time...the words many little girls want to have be part of their life. Finding their prince...riding off in the sunset...being a princess. There are so many things we associate with fairy tales; little or big as they may be.I never exactly imaged my life as a fairy tale, but just the other night, I felt like it had become one, silly as it seems. I was called to the window by my husband over to the door window. I was absolutely amazed when I looked outside.
It sounds silly, really, but I feel I know what Disney's Rapunzel felt like looking out the winder at all of the floating lights, because when I looked out the window I saw fireflies. Yes, fireflies. Growing up in Utah, I'd never seen such a thing. I've heard plenty of stories and seen them on TV, but they never really registered as something "real" to me. Just beautiful little lights that floated around to add to the romantic atmosphere or the cute stories.
I was absolutely thrilled to see that one little flashing light, on then off then on again, as if flew around in my front yard between trees. That one little light was so beautiful, so exciting. I could not believe my eyes. Right there was an element of my fairy tale.Something I believed did not truly exist until that moment.
Again, it seems silly, but I now feel as though I live in an enchanted wood, full of magic little lights and who knows what else that come out at night. What a wonder this world is; how beautiful and serene. We are truly a blessed people, to even have something as small as a firefly to light the dark and make it beautiful. One small light to give happiness and hope.
(Despite the fact that they are bugs...)
