It was quite the challenge and took FOREVER, but I finally got it done! WOO! This project was so fun to make and I have a couple others made, but this was my last hand-made softie before I got my sewing machine! Yay!It's been so nice finding this new hobby that I love. My hubby is so sweet and supportive and spoils me with things to do, and I think this one has been the best. Moving so far away from home so suddenly, this has been an awesome new way to feel productive!
There is something soothing about stuffed animals, something personal and warm, and being able to create them and work with different patterns and challenges makes them that much more special. Who knows, maybe soon I'll be good enough to sell them?
Its a little funny, really thinking about it; being 'creative' and cleaning are all I do during my lonely day-time hours. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that just at this moment of this new revelation. But, I suppose, I have fun and enjoy doing the things I do, so that makes it worth it, right? When one truly enjoys the way they spend their time, their time is well spent.
I hope soon to add piano lessons to my list of activities. I would love to teach! As I'm starting to plan it out though, I'm realizing how much work goes into deciding to be a teacher! I'm hoping that soon
I'll get some phone calls and can get started with that. I think I'll be more comfortable spending my husbands hard-earned money knowing I contribute at least a little bit to our funds. Selling stuffed animal creations might be good in that aspect as well, but I still have yet to figure out how to start that!
Overall though, I can say I'm happy making my plushies, drawing, and playing piano. Also, I think I'm not too good at writing blogs, but I have fun doing that too, so I think I'll keep doing it. ;)
P.S. Any input on selling these guys? Good idea? Bad idea? What do you think?

Oh he is so cute. I am glad he finally got eyes and you finally got a machine. I have little (or no) patience for handstitching things unless it is absolutely necessary.
ReplyDeleteI think people would buy your animals, but you might want to have a few done before you start. Not sure what venues to use for selling. I have never looked into such things, but I know some people use things like Etsy or booths at fairs and things.
I think you should build up your skills and design your own patterns. I think you could come up with some cute ideas from your drawings and such. And then you would not have to worry about keeping up with making and selling the animals when they get too popular ;) and I would love to see what you come up with.
Haha, for selling, I'd probably just start with ebay and local friends and things. :b I've heard of and seen things on etsy, but I don't know how big of a thing it is.
